Each week at One Community Church, we share a devotional that was written by one of our partners. This week’s devotional is presented by Anndrenise Ray.

The Word:
“’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB)

The Story:
I look back at my life at times and wonder how God allowed me to live another day. What was it that God saw in me?  Why did He favor me so much that He allowed difficulties to pass over me?  I had to really search my soul and constantly spend time with God.  The answer came clearly to me one day.  God helped me realize that there’s a calling on my life. Although I’ve had struggles in the past, it was all for a purpose. God has designed a plan for me so that I can become the person He created me to be; not who I think I should be. As His daughter, He is continually straightening out the crooked places in my heart.

The Reflection:
Let’s take time to reflect on the many ways the Lord guides and protects us daily.  Are we struggling to believe what the Lord says about us? How much time are we spending reading the Bible and in prayer to learn of God’s promises?

The Application:
When we find ourselves in situations wondering “how?”, “what?”, “when?” and “why?”, let’s remain faithful in our trust of the Lord’s plan. Let’s seek God for an answer, and wait patiently. Remember, God chose to create us before the foundations of the world.

The Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the plans You have for us. Lord, give us wisdom to know that no matter what goes on in our lives that we don’t understand, we should still trust that You are God and You have a plan for our lives. Amen.
